LAST weekend a team of six juniors from Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club travelled to Launceston GC in Cornwall to play in the South West regional semi final of The Junior Team Golf Home Nations Inter Club Championships. 

The T&P Juniors played against other semi finalists from Wiltshire, Hampshire and Devon in cold and windy conditions. 

At the end of the day the team score was calculated by adding the best gross and best four nett scores together, with the sixth card coming into play only in the event of a tie. 

On the day T&P won by a clear margin of 15 over Wrag Barn, Wiltshire and now proceed onto the England Finals which is a televised event played at The Players Club, Bristol on Mon 23rd October against other finalists from across England. 

Ben Newman had the second best gross score of the day with 78 while Alfie Sully had the best nett score with 69 (79 gross).

This is the first time T&P have reached the finals so many congratulations to everyone who has been involved in helping the juniors get to this stage.

The Musgrove Cup a charity golf day in support of Musgrove Park Hospital League of Friends was hosted by T&P on 7th September.

The Better Ball Stableford competition attracted 54 pairs and it is expected that the final amount raised from the day will be approx £4100.

The winning pair were Arthur Sinclair and James Candfield with 50 points, three ahead of second placed Ian Edwards and Chris Grimshaw.

Two pairs returned with 46 points, and after countback it was Gareth Eggle and Harvey Denning were third edging ahead of Anusara Trayling and John Craig.

Two pairs also scored 44 points, but following countback it was Robert Manning and Chris Hale who were fifth and Clive Hardy and Graham Adams were sixth.

After a busy Summer of events the clubs Sunday Lunch Carveries are back for the Autumn, starting from just £13.95.
