POLICE have revealed that the victim who died after being hit by a lorry on the M5 between Wellington and Taunton was a 46-year-old man from Taunton.
His next of kin have been informed.
Police have appealed for anyone with any information about the accident to contact the Avon and Somerset force collision investigation unit on 101 quoting log number CI115/15.
A PEDESTRIAN was killed after he was hit by an articulated lorry on the M5 northbound between Wellington and Taunton.
Emergency services sealed off the M5 both ways between Junctions 25 and 26 for a number of hours after the accident at about 6.50pm yesterday, Sunday, May 31.
The southbound carriageway re-opened as police carried out investigations on the northbound route after the man died at the scene.
The northbound section of the motorway re-opened later in the evening.
Motorists were stuck in queues and a police spokesman later said: "We'd like to thank motorists for their ongoing patience - we know this closure will have caused disruption."
