DRAMATIC photos of firefighters tackling a car blaze on the M5 between Taunton and Wellington have emerged.

Taunton Fire Station posted the images of crews tackling the flames iin the incident between Taunton and Wellington at around 4pm on New Year's Day (Monday).

The incident led to the closure of two lanes as firefighters put out within an hour the fire using water jets, a thermal image camera and compressed air foam.

The two lanes were re-opened at 5.20pm.

It is reported that the driver of the car was seen crawling out of the overturned vehicle after it flew through the air and then burst into flames.
