SEVERAL successful bids for an 'unparished' levy from council taxpayers in homes in and around the centre of Taunton have been announced by Taunton Deane Borough Council.
They are:
- £2,047.28 for metal handrails on the slopes outside Priorswood Community Centre;
- £2,200 to install metal benches on a small roundabout at the corner of Beadon Road and on land off Allington Close;
- £378.50 for a petrol engine lawn mower to maintain grassed areas at Rowbarton Allotments;
- £1,932.94 for Blackbrook Community Primary School to buy equipment for monthly community litter picks;
- up to £1,500 for signs at the skatepark adjoining Hamilton Park;
- £1,200 towards The Polish Community Association's annual rent for an office in Flook House;
- £5,000 to Love Musgrove charity towards the £1,000,000 cost of a third MRI scanner for Musgrove Park Hospital;
- £3,500 to GoCreate Taunton Community Interest Company for Taunton Live Arts Festival;
- £250 to Victoria Park Action Group to refurbish existing noticeboards and provide three new boards;
- £602 to Taunton Area Cycling Campaign to publicise the new Taunton Foxglove Cycle Trail through laminated waymarker stickers, a base map of the route and 3,000 copies of an A3 size map for distribution to local cyclists.
