PEOPLE living on a housing estate in Taunton are determined not to let the coronavirus crisis ruin their festive season.
They are planning to hold their own Christmas light switch on.
A leaflet has been dropped through letterboxes on the Nerrols Farm development advertising the community event at 6pm on Saturday, December 5.
Sophie Riley, who has helped organises the big switch-on, said it was the brainchild of Zoe Arkley.
Sophie said: "Zoe suggested she'd like to do some kind of light switch-on locally rather than everyone meeting up in the middle of town.
"So far around 40 households have said they plan to join in by switching their lights on.
"We'll be social distancing at our front doors to turn them on on the fronts of our homes.
"There may also be a hot chocolate bar to warm everyone up.
"Some positive community spirit is something everyone is needing during lockdown."
Let us know if you and your community are planning something special to celebrate the festive season.
