MINEHEAD manager Steve Perkins has told his side, "the season starts here".

The inexperienced Blues have shown plenty of potential but find themselves second from bottom in Division One of the Toolstation League with just three wins to their name.

But Perkins believes with two new signings on board and club captain Simon Lyons returning to fitness, the team can begin to climb.

Perkins has recruited midfielder Ed Barney, who has made played for Watchet Town this season and striker James Howe, who was with Premier Division Willand Rovers at the start of the season. Both are in the Richard Huish College Academy side.

"After signing the two new lads and having Simon back I'm confident we can start to turn the corner," said Perkins.

"Simon can make a difference in any game and the new signings are both very talented lads.

"I said to the lads at training that, as far as I was concerned, the starts on Saturday."

Minehead have a great chance to pick up points right away with two home games in four days.

On Saturday, they take on Larkhall Athletic and next Tuesday play Almondsbury in a re-arranged game. The original match was abandoned at half time after one of the floodlights failed.
