Toolstation League Division 1: Biddestone 1, Wellington 2.

STRIKER Shaun Anthony's second successive goal-double earned Wellington three valuable points at Biddestone and allowed them to climb back up into fifth place in the table.

Anthony took his tally for the season to a dozen - but shared the limelight with the rest of his team-mates, who turned in a display full of character to recover from the shock of conceding an early goal.

They were without leading scorer Nick Woon and central defender Trevor Haslett - both suspended.

They were replaced by new signings - central defender Jason Manley, who has rejoined Wellington from Premier Division Chard Town - and young Wiltshire-based striker Mike Gwyer.

And there was a third new face on the bench as promising Taunton youngster James Clough came on in the second half to replace black eye victim Andy Butler.

Wellington got off to the worst possible start when Biddestone took the lead with a soft goal after only four minutes as Jack Coathupe screwed in a shot off the post.

But the visitors reacted well with Gwyer always looking lively up front and wide men Craig Herrod and Craig Mawford also both posing problems.

They got back on level terms after 27 minutes when a flowing move ended with Herrod being upended in the box and Anthony made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Despite difficult conditions, including a fierce wind blowing down the pitch, Wellington took control of the game with Simon Ingram - skipper in place of Woon - pulling the strings in midfield.

And it was Ingram who set up what proved to be the winner seven minutes into the second half, sending Anthony racing down the middle to coolly shoot past keeper Anthony Brown.

Biddestone produced three long-range efforts which were all well dealt with by keeper Shaun Lock.

And Wellington almost increased their lead seven minutes from time as a cross from the right found Herrod who smacked his shot against the upright.

Wellington: Lock, Legg, Holland, Manley, Short, Mawford, Butler, Ingram, Herrod, Anthony, Gwyer. Subs: Clough and Atiba (both used), Markham (not used).
