PERFECTO Allstars completed the first leg of a possible quadruple on Sunday when they defeated Taunton League rivals Legends 5-1 in the Somerset Challenge Cup final at Wellington FC.

In front of a good crowd, the result was rarely in doubt with Blackbrook striker Dean Quinn leading the way with a hat-trick.

The victory means they are the first Taunton Saturday or Sunday League side to retain a county cup. In last season's final they defeated Staplegrove.

Perfecto, who are managed by former Taunton and Bridgwater Town striker Matt Francis are also on course to claim to league title, having dropped just two points all season.

They are also in the final of the Carling Cup, where they face Eagle Spartans, and last four of the Gardener Cup where their opponents are, once again, Legends.

Bideford striker Shane Kingston missed an early penalty for Perfecto but they took the lead midway through the half when Andy Robertson shot home through a crowd of players from the edge of the area.

Quinn headed home Robertson's cross to make it 2-0 and, after the break, scored his second, sweeping home Pat Sherwood's cross.

Quinn then completed his hat-trick to make it 4-0 before Jamie Price put through his own goal to give Legends a consolation.

Player-manager Francis then came off the substitute's bench to complete the scoring.

To compound their misery, Legends' James Coleman was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

Tone Youth, who are the only side to take points off Perfecto, remain on course for the runners-up spot in Division One following their 4-0 win at home to FC Guns.

They were down to ten men for part of the first half due to an injury but still led 2-0 at half time with Mark Singleton and Martin Jenkins on target. In the second half, they added two more from Scott Graham and John Saunders.

Bagborough Rovers continue to look for thei first points of the season after going down 9-0 at home to Bathpool. Steve Birley led the way with four goals, while James Weaver (2), Jerry Thomas, Mark Follett and Steve Weaver were also on target.

Bell Rangers were in excellent form to secure a 5-0 victory away to Gardeners Arms.

Their scorers were Andrew Springer (2), Terry Springer, Terry Davis and Matt Bowden.

In Division Two, Sampford Blues reduced the gap on leaders PQR to a point - and they have a game in hand - following a 5-3 victory at home to nine-man KC Dragons.

Their goals came from Craig Aspin, John Stanyard, Sandy Patel and Joe Conway with a 30-yard effort.

PQR were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Spaxton Rangers, while the other promotion chasers Westgate Wanderers secured a narrow 2-1 win at Langport Town. In the other game in that division, Pitminster Lions won 4-0 at Rail Madrid.

Ash Rangers remain in pole position in Division Three following their 2-1 win at home to Somerset Inn, but Club Rangers defeated Pegasus 7-1 to remain hot on their heels. Club's goals came from Mark Oram (2), Sean Buttle, Trevor Charlton, Rob Oram, Dave Poulsom and Geoff Hamlyn.

Westford Rangers won 8-5 away to Holway Utd in a pulsating clash. The score was 4-4 after an exhilarating first half time but Westford pulled away after the break to take the points.

Their goals came from Lee Hellier (2), Craig Plumridge, Anthony Date, Craig Billett, Ryan Billett, Matt Jordan and Gareth Conway with Liam Thomas (4) and Graham Fitt netting for Holway.

Ruishton Inn have clinched the Division Four title with two games left to play thanks to their 2-1 victory at home to second-placed Royal Crown.

Ben Davis and Darren Ponter put Ruishton 2-0 with Josh Leebody scoring a consolation for Royal Crown who are runners-up, as they were last season in Division Five.

Relegation threated Williton Rockets and Carhampton Rovers fought out a goalless draw.

In Division Five, leaders Celtic Alllstars bounced back from their only defeat of the season with a 7-0 win at home to The Rusty Axe. In a rehearsal of this Sunday's Mike Stewart Cup semi-final, Phoenix Rangers defeated Black Horse 4-1.
