KING'S College are celebrating after winning the Under-18 festival at the National Schools Sevens at Rosslyn Park, which claims to be the world's largest rugby tournament.
From a field of 130 top rugby schools from all over England and Wales, King's went through the group stage comfortably, including victories over Marlborough College and Plymouth College.
In the knock-out phase, King's beat recent winners Cheltenham College 38-5, Sevenoaks School 33-19 and Tonbridge School 26-19 to reach the final against Wellington College, who had won the festival four out of the last six years.
Despite falling 14-0 behind, King's fought back and a determined run by Quinton Taylor led to a try leaving the half time score at 14-5.
After the break Somerset U-20 player Ross Turner scored from inside his own half and, in the final minute, Ed Dawson scored with Tom Halliday converting to give King's a 17-14 win.
King's last won the U-18 festival in 1994. All 11 players in the squad have been at King's since year nine. Five of the 11-man squad - Quinton Taylor, Will McKegney, Ed Dawson, Will Webster and Tom Halliday - play regularly for the successful Taunton U-17 team.
