SATURDAY, February 25 saw four Taunton Netball Club teams in action – with wins all round.
Somerset League - Premier Division
Sharks 33, Vivary 64
Vivary, sponsored by Shine Hair Management, beat Stanchester’s Sharks 64-33 in the Premier Division.
Vivary started strongly, turning over and scoring from Sharks’ first centre.
Scoring several unanswered goals during the first quarter, Vivary took an early lead (15-7).
The second quarter saw Vivary continue to play a strong game, with the defence working hard to turn the ball over, allowing Vivary to build on their early lead (30-17).
Vivary pulled away in the third quarter with both defence and attack working hard and linking well (47-26).
The final quarter saw similar play from Vivary, their strongest quarter securing their convincing win.
Player of the match (POM): Fee Grammer.

Division 2
Quantock 33, Harlequins 21
QUANTOCK, sponsored by Mecca Bingo, defeated Midsomer Norton’s Harlequins 33-21 in Division 2.
Quantock started confidently, taking the lead 10-4 in the first quarter, but Harlequins fought hard and pulled the score back in the second quarter to within two goals (15-13).
The third quarter saw Quantock answer this with tight defence, allowing just two goals for Harlequins, while the attack and shooters worked hard to convert turnovers (24-15).
Quantock demonstrated team work and determination in the final quarter to ensure they protected their lead.

Division 3
Priory 39, Minstrels 15
PRIORY, sponsored by Matt Durbin Associates, beat Division 3 bottom side Midsomer Norton’s Minstrels by a 39-15 scoreline.
Priory started the game with confidence and took a slight lead of 7-5 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Priory get into their rhythm and some great defence prevented Minstrels from increasing their score (16-5).
Minstrels made some changes in the third quarter but Priory dug deep and continued to work hard defensively, interrupting Minstrels’ flow (26-10).
The final quarter saw similar play from Priory, showing strength in both defence and attack, to take the win.

Division 3
Kites 36, Blackdown 43
BLACKDOWN, sponsored by Mortgage Select, overcame mid-table rivals Keinton Mandeville’s Kites 43-36 in the third division.
Blackdown started well, with the defence working hard, but it was Kites who took a slight lead at the end of the first quarter (11-9).
The second quarter saw Blackdown fight back with interceptions throughout the court and good linking by centre court players to equalise (18-18).
Accurate shooting and confident passing into the circle saw Blackdown start to pull away in the third quarter (31-24), and all players continued to work hard in the final quarter to register their win.
