WELLINGTON held out until the 80th minute against third-placed Bradford Town on Saturday, only to concede a late winner to their visitors.

Bradford dominated possession, but goalkeeper Tom Welch and Tim Legg put in fine displays amid a good defensive effort.

Bishops Lydeard 3, Ashton & Backwell United 1

BISHOPS Lydeard bounced back from two defeats with a home win over Ashton & Backwell United.

Zac Ryder gave them the lead after just 10 minutes with a sweet strike from 20 yards, before Jordan Lovibond made it 2-0 six minutes later, rounding the keeper to finish.

A penalty after the hour mark gave Ashton a way back into the game, and their cause was aided further by a red card for the hosts' Mark Clunie.

However, Lovibond popped up again with two minutes left to seal the points, leaving Lydeard in eighth place in the table.

This Saturday they travel to sixth-placed Radstock Town (ko 3pm).

Division 1 West
Minehead AFC 2, Berrow & Highbridge 1

MINEHEAD sit in ninth place in the Division 1 West table after overcoming solid defending - and outstanding goalkeeping from Sam Bailey - at the weekend.

The hosts attacked with vigour from the outset, and Bailey was quickly in the thick of the action to deny Callum Barnfield, Harry Scratchard, Mike Graddon and Guy Burns.

Josh Watkins then put the visitors ahead on a rare foray towards the Minehead goal, but Bailey was finally beaten just before half time, as Graddon stroked home a rebound.

More stellar saves from Bailey followed after the break, while B&H looked to utilise the counter-attack, but Graddon won it in the 89th minute from Burns’ square ball.

The Blues are now just five points off top spot in the league, and this Saturday they are away to 11th-placed Street Reserves (ko 2pm).
