Toolstation Western League
First Division
Portishead Town 2, Bishops Lydeard 5

BISHOPS Lydeard gained revenge for a 2-0 defeat at home to Portishead Town in December, winning the reverse fixture 5-2 to sit ninth in the First Division table.

Lydeard scored five goals on the road for the second week running, having beaten Bristol Telephones 5-1 in their previous match.

The visitors took the lead inside the first 15 minutes, as Ryan Brereton volleyed in Jordan Lovibond's cross.

And it was effectively game over with just 22 minutes played, as Mark Clunie scored from 50 yards out after the Portishead keeper made a mess of his clearance, then Harry Millar tapped home to make it 3-0.

The same two players took Lydeard's lead to five at half time, as Clunie found the top corner and Millar finished from a tight angle.

Two goals for the hosts after the break could not spoil a fine day for the away side, who are on the road again this Saturday, as they take on Corsham Town (ko 3pm).

BISHOPS Lydeard Reserves face a crunch clash this weekend as they welcome Frome Collegians in the Somerset Junior Cup semi-final on Saturday (ko 1.45pm).

Lydeard's opponents are currently top of the Mid Somerset League, but the hosts are in good form themselves, beating Bridgwater Sports 6-2 in Division 1 of the Taunton Saturday League last weekend.

The other last four encounter sees Middlezoy Rovers Reserves play Templecombe Rovers.

WELLINGTON AFC, whose match at Brislington was called off last weekend, hope to play for the first time since January 13, with a fixture at home to Chipping Sodbury Town on Saturday (ko 3pm).

Wellington sit 16th in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division, with Sodbury 11th.

STAPLEGROVE, who were without a scheduled match last weekend, host Bridgwater Town Reserves in the Somerset County League Premier Division this Saturday (ko 2.30pm).

There were, however, games for both of the West Somerset teams in the County League on Saturday.

Watchet Town won 3-1 at home to Stockwood Wanderers, thanks to goals from Aaron Deeks (2) and Mike Bailey.

They visit Premier Division leaders Chilcompton Sports for a crucial top-of-the-table clash on Saturday (ko 2.30pm).

And in Division 1 West, Minehead AFC squeezed past Combe St Nicholas 2-1, with their goals scored by Luke Bloys and Stefan Phillips.

They have a tough task on Saturday, hosting Worle - who won 22-0 against Berrow & Highbridge last time out - with a 3pm kick-off.
