WELLINGTON Goaaals Disability Football will represent Somerset in the Regional finals of the People’s Cup.

They won their group on goals scored at Strode College at the weekend after playing three matches.

Wellington started strongly against Keynsham Mencap, winning 3-0 with Alex Gallagher scoring one and James Mayled two, then lost the second 3-1, Mayled again on target.

Mayled scored from the penalty spot in a 1-1 draw with keeper Martin Gadd in fine form throughout.

George Fox-Reid was a rock at the heart of the defence while Dan Saunders was brilliant through the middle.

Alex Gallagher was a menace to the opposition defences all day and Ben Hallows went on numerous driving runs into the opposition half.

Charlie Young was brilliant at breaking up the play and setting up attacks.

Josh Locke was the utility player, playing in every position on the field - even in goal when Martin Gadd was injured.

George Fox-Reid picked up the trophy for the Championship first round winners.

The team will now go on to represent Somerset in the Regional Finals.
