TAUNTON Town have made Truro City striker Andrew 'Rocky' Neal their first summer signing.

The frontman joins the now well-trodden path from Truro to Taunton, following in the footsteps of the likes of captain Matt Wright, Shane White, Ben Adelsbury and Ryan Brett.

Neal joined Truro in 2016 after scoring 60 goals in 44 appearances for Bodmin Town in the South West Peninsula League, and was the White Tigers' leading goalscorer in his first season with the club.

Having played in National League South for the past two campaigns, Neal should be well equipped for life in the division below with Taunton as they look to build a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the division.

Elsewhere, the Peacocks have added a third Football League club to their list of pre-season opponents.

Exeter City will visit the Viridor Stadium on Saturday, July 28 (3pm) in what will be the third season in a row the friendly fixture has taken place.

Last season's clash brought a four-figure crowd through the gates, with 1,073 spectators watching the Grecians run out 3-0 winners.

Exeter, who were recently beaten in the League Two play-off final for the second successive season, will be under new management after yesterday's announcement that Paul Tisdale had chosen to depart after 12 years at the helm.

The club moved swiftly to announce his replacement, with former club captain Matt Taylor - who was part of Tisdale's back room staff - appointed.

The change in management will make many Grecians fans keen to see how their team are shaping up, which should lead to another big crowd at the Viridor.

City join Bristol City, Plymouth Argyle and Willand Rovers in Taunton's pre-season schedule so far.
