WELLINGTON AFC’s disability team have completed their first season in the Somerset Ability Counts League by winning the second division.

It was very close right up to the last game, but they finally came through, winning the league by a four-point margin.

Coach Jason Fox said: “The players have been fantastic all year.

“They performed to a very high standard and I’m proud of them all.”

The second string, who competed in Division 3, also did well, finishing fourth.

Their season was made tougher by the team being unable to field the same players at each tournament, due to other commitments.

WELLINGTON AFC’s Toolstation Western League side have returned to pre-season training without two key players who have departed for division rivals Bridgwater Town.

Jamie Harkness, a cultured midfielder who completed a two-year scholarship at Exeter City, and centre-back Tom Short, who was at Willand Rovers last season, have both agreed to join the Tangerines.
