Pre-season friendly

Melksham Town 2, Taunton Town 3

CRAIG Veal scored a 76th-minute winner as Taunton came from 2-1 down to defeat Southern League Division One West side Melksham Town in their latest pre-season friendly.

Young defender Tom Stone was handed a start and there was no Dan Sullivan for the Peacocks, who went ahead on 14 minutes when skipper Matt Wright converted from the spot after Andrew Neal had been dragged down inside the area.

Lloyd Irish made some good saves to keep the Peacocks ahead at the break, but the hosts turned the game on its head after the interval as Plummer and Ballinger found the net.

Taunton hit back as Wright notched his second with a bullet header at the back post, and the skipper was instrumental in the winner as his knock down from Neal's cross landed right in the path of subsitute Veal, who fired under the goalkeeper.

The Peacocks play their final pre-season friendly on Monday night at home to a Bristol City XI (7.45pm), with their first league match coming with the visit of Staines Town on Saturday, August 11.
