RUNNING Forever athletes always like a bargain, so six avoided the toll when they ran between England and Wales on Sunday during the Severn Bridge Half.

First home on a damp day was Sam Wharton in 1.38, Duncan Gordon was next in 1.55 with Carl Moppett just on his tail with his 1.58.

Ali Wasey, Eliza Brodie and Kirsti Nelson stuck together for 2.34, 2.36 & 2.37 finishes.

It was off to Dorset for the White Star Running East Farm Frolic weekend for a small but hardy contingent.

Bev Collins had a 4.48 marathon on Saturday with a muddy 2.28 half on the Sunday.

Rob Murr did the same distances in 5.54 and 3.09.

Claire Allison and Yvonne Loat took part in the 10K on Saturday, both recording 1.37 and then both completed one lap of the Frolic on Sunday.

Both Murr and Allison were presented with their WSR Black Belt awards for completing six of their marathons in one season.

It was Langport Runners’ Battle of Sedgemoor 10K on Sunday.

This race always attracts a good field from the club, ready to take on the scenic run round the villages.

Chris Brown was in good form again for a 36.55 finish, Andy Staples was next home in 38.42 with Emma Kiernan just behind in 39.30.

Brian Bandyszewski completed his Battle in 47.06, followed by Michael Glide (49.41) and Sally Tuer (51.53).

There was a great time of 57.58 from Peter Stretton; Craig Moore finished just on the 60-minute mark and Lisa Windsor collected her medal in 70 minutes.

Sandra Williams completed the North to South Dartmoor 34-mile Ultra.

Louise Mills took time off from the traditional Festival activities to take part in the Greenbelt Run at the Greenbelt Festival.

It was another winning weekend for Hannah Taunton who was part of a winning team at the Cleeve 5K Road Relay as well as winning some of her favourite chocolate as third fastest female.

This weekend’s parkrun tourists went to Eastleigh, Minehead, Yeovil, Bideford and Heartlands.

Thirty-two took part in the local Longrun Meadow event.

TAUNTON Athletics Club members have been travelling far and wide in search of competition.

Nick Daniels took on the Sticklepath horseshoe fell race, on Dartmoor, which consisted of over nine miles of horrific climbs, bog, boulders and 30mph winds.

In the Bridport Jurassic coast 10k, Thea Sanders was third lady (first senior lady) in 58.45.

Off to Reykjavik, Iceland, for the half marathon were Martin Bluemel and his son, Edward, who completed this beautiful, scenic challenge.

In the Battle of Sedgemoor 10k, in less than ideal conditions, Marcus Albano came home in 37.30, Mark Bysouth 45.45 (pb) and Suzi Griffiths 55.26.

A CHANGE in the recent hot weather encouraged runners from Just Run Taunton to travel the short distance to Langport to take part in the ‘Battle of Sedgemoor’ event.

A relatively flat course, taking in parts of the Somerset Levels, 412 runners completed the 10k in conditions more conducive to the wearing of waders rather than running shoes.

Nonetheless, the rain and the wind did not deter the runners as they headed out on the sound of the hooter.

First back for the Just Run group was Duncan Shaun, finishing 69th overall in a time of 44:09.

Less than a minute behind was Ashley Stewart, running a 10k PB in 44:52.

First lady back was Julie Gilbert in 56:37, followed by Donna Adams in a PB time of 1:05:33.

Running his second 10k of the morning was James Pither, completing the ‘official’ 10k in 1:21:53.

Recent Longrun Meadow Parkrun events have seen PBs recorded by Dan Brice (19:53), Ashley Stewart (21:12) and Donna Adams (33:20).

Just Run meet every Tuesday at 6.30pm, running from Enfield car park and catering for all abilities.
