Somerset County League Division 1: Worle 5, Bishops Lydeard 0.
BISHOPS Lydeard's winning start to the season came to an abrupt halt as they crashed to a heavy defeat away to Worle.
Lydeard, who won their opening opening three matches comfortably, were missing five first team regulars and travelled to Worle with the bare 11.
After an even opening 20 minutes, Lydeard fell behind to a powerful header and soon after Worle doubled their lead.
An own goal saw the hosts go 3-0 to the good before the break and midway through the second half they made it four.
Lydeard's misery was completed late on as they were caught on the break chasing a consolation goal.
This Saturday, Lydeard should have a full strength squad to choose from for their home game with Paulton Rovers Reserves.
Last Wednesday, Lydeard won 5-0 at home to Burnham Utd Reserves with goals from Sam Price-Bates (2), Ali Warren (2) and Graham Mercieca.
Meanwhile, Lydeard's keeper Lewis Irish has left to join Chard Town.
