TAUNTON Deane slipped a place to finish fourth after going down by 117 runs away to Trowbridge who have snatched third.

Skipper Russell Jones lost the toss and it was no surprise to see the home side choose to bat first on a hard, dry pitch.

However, the decision could have been a mistake as Trowbridge fell to 46-3 from the first 15 overs.

This was mainly due to the pressure created by the tight bowling of Cameron Proudlove (15-3-55-2) and Jones (13-0-79-2).

Trowbridge skipper Assad Fudadin (131) had other ideas and batted superbly to guide his side to a large total of 292-7.

The West Indian batted sensibly early in his innings before unfurling a classy array of attacking shots in the latter stages.

A solid bowling display on a large ground was unfortunately not as well supported in the field.

Deane were always up with the rate but lost wickets at crucial times in their chase as they ended with a modest 175 in just the 30th over.

Aggressive batting was shown by all at the crease, although it was only Phil Lewis (71) that managed to continue for any length of time.

A destructive knock from Jones (26 off 14 balls), helped Deane finish on a more respectable note.
