MINEHEAD completed the season with yet another victory as they won by 32 runs at home to Timsbury in the Bristol and Somerset Division.

The Seasiders went into the game having already secured fourth place after a superb second half of the season which has seen them unbeaten since July 7.

Minehead won the toss and decided to have a bat on a good wicket.

Skipper Andy Stevens started where he left off the week before, striking the ball very well.

For the second week, Tom Wright was dropped early in the innings, which is not a good idea considering the form he has been in all season.

The pair put on 52 in ten overs before Stevens was caught in the covers. Bennett and Wright got into their stride adding 101 runs in 18 overs, with both playing some very fine shots to put Minehead in a commanding position.

A breakdown in communication then saw Bennett run out for 45 to leave Minehead on 153 off 28 overs.

Shaun Lee joined Wright, who was soon caught off Weaver for 77 to leave him with 832 runs for the season at a superb average of 64.

Lee continued the good work with a knock of 31, although Andrew Woodward, Adam Jones and Brian Penny managed 11 runs between them.

With Minehead on 213 off 44 overs, youngsters David Bland and Matt Drakely shared an explosive stand of 55 runs in six overs, putting Minehead in a solid position at 268-7.

Keith Graddon and Penny, yet again, got Minehead off to a good start in the field. The first wicket fell 15 overs in with the score on 47.

After another wicket, Davies and Pippett together added 73 in 13 overs to get their side back in the game. But in the space of two overs, Timsbury lost both batsmen and the score slowed up again.

Despite 33 from skipper Sage and 23 from Stewart, they fell short at 236-8 from 50 overs.

This was not Minehead's best fielding performance of the season but good enough to win the game and finish the season on a winning note.
