A NEW table tennis season in Taunton gets under way on Monday (September 17) with seven teams contesting Division One and playing each other three times.

The Premier Division will begin in October with eight teams playing each other twice - the same numbers and divisional format as last season.

One difference on match night is the reduction of doubles, from three to one, which was narrowly voted in at the AGM.

St Augustine's School will be hosting over half of the teams in the league this season.

Saints Stingers are newcomers and will replace YMCA Saints in Division One while YMCA Gladiators, Hewett Homers and Woodyarders all change names as a result of moving to the Priorswood venue.

There is a change on the committee this season, with Mel Horner becoming chairman.

Ron Cann, after 25 years' excellent service, has moved upstairs to become the league president.

The league committee thanked Mike and Jackie Crook of Ark Removals for their continued sponsorship.
