SOMERSET County Cricket Club held their end of season awards night at the Cooper Associates County Ground on Saturday.

The team were in buoyant mood after seeing off Nottinghamshire by an innings and 146 runs in their final match of the season at Trent Bridge last week - their seventh County Championship win of a successful season which saw the club finish as runners-up in Division One.

Somerset also reached the semi-finals of the Vitality Blast and narrowly avoided making the knockout rounds of the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Star batsman James Hildreth picked up the player of the year and County Championship player of the year award after a productive season with the bat.

Hildreth passed 1,000 Championship runs for the seventh time in his career, scoring three centuries in the process.

Lewis Gregory was another double award winner, taking home the white ball player of the year and supporters' player of the year trophies.

Gregory captained the T20 side to finals day for the first time since 2012, impressing with both bat and ball throughout the competition.

Club captain Tom Abell picked up an award for his work in the community, while Tom Banton was named young player of the year.

Johann Myburgh's century in the Vitality Blast against Essex was the champagne moment.
