BOTH Wellington AFC and Bishops Lydeard secured victory in last weekend's Toolstation Western league action.

Wellington piled more misery on Premier Division strugglers Shortwood United, winning 5-0 at The Playing Field.

Conor Bryant and Joe Chamberlain bagged a brace apiece for the Tangerines, and Jack Bryant completed the scoring for Clive Jones' team, who are now 12th in the table.

Tomorrow night (Wednesday, ko 7.45pm) sees Wellington host Buckland Athletic, and on Saturday they go to Cadbury Heath (ko 3pm).

As for Lydeard, they won 2-0 at First Division rivals Oldland Abbotonians on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Ryan Brereton broke the deadlock with an extraordinary 40-yard lob, and substitute Zac Ryder wrapped up the points late on.

Lydeard are 13th in the standings, and this Saturday they host Calne Town (ko 3pm).

JAMIE Milton was the hero again for Watchet Town, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 success for the second Saturday in a row.

The victory, this time against Stockwood Green, leaves Watchet third in the Somerset County League Premier Division table.

Minehead AFC are sixth in Division 1 after a 2-1 win at home to Hengrove Athletic Reserves, Luke Howells netting both for the hosts.

They were certainly helped by the away side's indiscipline, with both Anton Williams and Simon Knight - who had earlier equalised - being sent off.

Staplegrove were beaten 3-1 at home by Mendip Broadwalk, for whom Dean Maggs, Jack Medjedoub and Conor Walker scored.

This weekend sees the trio in Somerset Senior Cup second round action - Minehead hosting Watchet for a tasty-looking West Somerset derby (ko 2pm).

Grove, meanwhile, entertain Weston St John's (ko 2pm).
