Somerset Division 3
Comeytrowe 24, Arrows 18

COMEYTROWE were all smiles as they hosted Paulton side Arrows off the back of two consecutive, and convincing, wins.

The game was far more demanding than Comeytrowe’s previous matches, but each player stepped up to match their opponents’ physicality.

Arrows’ tight man-marking meant the hosts had to work hard to get the ball into the circle, but their work rate throughout the first quarter enabled them to lead 6-4.

A slight change in mid-court in the second quarter didn’t deter Arrows and Comeytrowe were forced to rethink their attacking play.

With defence working tirelessly to keep the pressure on Arrows’ attack and win turnovers, Comeytrowe made the most of their attacking opportunities for a 13-10 half-time lead.

The hosts settled into the game in the third quarter, with defensive duo Toni Symthe and Jas Pope on form, restricting Arrows to four goals.

The final 15 minutes saw an excellent display of communication, support and teamwork from one of Galmington’s newly formed teams, as they sealed the victory, 24-18.

Their ability to play as a collective, and not as individuals, saw them win their most challenging game yet.
