TAUNTON Town’s acting manager Rob Dray is looking for his side to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat in what will be a big week for the club.

After a run of three wins and 15 goals scored since the departure of Leigh Robinson, the Peacocks came a cropper away to Metropolitan Police, losing 4-1.

This Saturday, they will look to get back to winning ways at home to Frome Town (ko 3pm), and then in the FA Cup against St Albans City or Corinthian Casuals on Wednesday.

Dray has a full squad to select from, suspended captain Matt Wright aside, and said: “We’re at home and we need to get the win; I expect a reaction and for us to be better.

“We need a positive result as no-one wants two losses going into a big Cup game.”

Regarding Frome, he added: “They’re battle-hardened at this level, and we’re eight games into it.

“They had a good win [against Walton Casuals] last Saturday, and will be really tough.

“Every team in this league has players who can hurt you if you don’t get it right.”

Opposition in focus: Frome Town

FROME Town, visitors to Taunton this Saturday, are familiar foes for the Peacocks from their Western League days.

Frome’s ground, Badgers Hill, is a mere 43 miles down the A361 from the Viridor Stadium, making this a relatively local derby match.

The Robins were founded in 1904, and after flitting in and out of the Western League they remained in the competition from 1963 to 2009.

In the 1953/54 season they progressed to the first round proper of the FA Cup, where they lost to Leyton Orient in front of a crowd of 8,000.

Come 2009, Frome won promotion to the Southern League, and in 2011 they earned a spot in the Premier Division (beating Sholing 1-0 in the play-off final), where they have remained ever since.

They finished 13th (out of 24 teams) in last season’s Premier standings, and they currently lie 14th after eight games this campaign.

Under the management of Danny Greaves, the Robins have won three, drawn one and lost four – as well as exiting the FA Cup to Winchester City after a replay.

All three league wins have come in the last four games – only a 3-2 loss against Farnborough blotting their copybook – and so they are a team in decent form.

Harry Baker is a player to watch, having scored twice in Frome’s 3-1 victory at Merthyr Town on the August Bank Holiday, and against Walton Casuals last weekend.

Baker’s strike, and two from Ryan Bath, all came in a spell of three goals in four minutes that secured a 3-0 home win over the Casuals.
