Bishops Lydeard 1, Calne Town 1

BISHOPS Lydeard and Calne Town provided an entertaining game on Saturday, with plenty of open attacking football.

Jake Quick missed a golden opportunity to give Lydeard the lead in the fifth minute when his shot went narrowly wide of the upright, before

Matthew Jenkins went close with a header for the visitors.

The game got a little heated at times, and the referee spoke to both captains before the half-hour in order to calm things down.

Jenkins opened the scoring for the away side in the 72nd minute, with a well-taken shot from 25 yards.

But Quick equalised for the hosts, breaking down the right and slotting in a neat shot in the 81st minute.

Calne substitute Billy Gleed came close to winning it in the 90th minute, but in the end both teams were happy with a point.

Lydeard go to Bath City tomorrow night (ko 7.45pm) in the Somerset Premier Cup; they go to Keynsham Town on Saturday (ko 3pm).
