TAUNTON’S light heavyweight prospect Pawel Augustynik claimed his eighth straight victory on Saturday night, scoring a third round TKO over Richard O’Connor at Bristol’s Ashton Gate, writes Marc Gatford.

The 23-year-old registered his second straight stoppage, showcasing solid power and clinical finishing.

Augustynik said: “I’m pleased with my performance and it always feels good to get the man out of there.”

Building on a disciplined opening round, Augustynik targeted the body in the second before dropping his opponent with a straight right hand.

O’Connor returned to his feet and managed to see the round out on the back foot.

Midway through the third stanza, Augustynik landed another spiteful body shot followed by a pinpoint right hook.

As he moved into range to build on the combination, the referee stepped between the fighters and waved off the one-sided contest.

The Taunton boxer added: “There are few technical bits I did wrong but, overall, I’m happy.

“I’m not too far off going after a title, but we’re in no rush.

“Thanks to everyone who came out to support me.

“This is only the start of my journey and I’m excited to see where it will lead me.”
