Somerset County Gazette:

SUCCESS: The Taunton & Pickeridge Juniors team with junior organiser Mike Hooper and match co-ordinator Mark Langford.

TAUNTON & Pickeridge Golf Club ladies took part in a Dallas Scramble medal format played in teams of three on Tuesday.

At the end, it was Berni Hatcher, Jan Hill and Shirley Portis with nett 55 who won on countback from Lennox Heath, Liz Cutler and Liz Reeve, who also returned with the same score.

Congratulations to T&P Juniors, who won the Somerset Junior League Jamboree for the first time in nine years when it took place at Wheathill Golf Club at the weekend.

The T&P team of Bailey Langford, Charlie Hooper, Dillon Watts and Pierre Clifford had a team stableford total with three scores to count out of four of 115 points to win by one point, so it was thrilling to the end.

Mike Hooper, the junior organiser at T&P, said: “This is the first time in nine years the section has won the event, so it’s a real achievement and well done to the juniors involved.

“Everybody at T&P would also like to thank Mike Perry, the president of the junior league, for organising the event and presenting the prizes at the end of a great day.”

This was a fitting way for Bailey Langford to conclude his year as Junior Captain, during which, not only have the section enjoyed considerable success but he has had a trial for England and reduced his handicap to 3.
