CRICKET-MAD youngsters George and Josh Thomas have just been awarded a two-year sponsorship deal by QDOS, part of Somerset County Sports, who are based at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton.

Both Thomas brothers play school cricket for King’s College as well as Taunton St Andrew's and their respective county age groups.

George is already part of the Somerset Emerging Player Programme and Josh will be joining him this autumn.

George is 15 years old, a hard-hitting right-handed batsman and fast medium bowler, while brother Josh is 13 and a slow left-arm bowler who also bats left-handed.

This summer, George was a member of the Saints side which came runners-up in the finals of the ECB Under-15s National Club T20 competition, while Josh not only played in the Under-15s final but also appeared for the Saints in the ECB National Club Under-13s Finals Day.

The 2018 summer also saw George and Josh make their senior debuts for Taunton St Andrew's, where they have both played their cricket for a number of years.

The Somerset County Sports award supplies each of the players with two bats, two pairs of batting gloves, a pair of batting pads and a carry bag from the latest QDOS range of cricket kit.

Richard Brice, managing director of Somerset County Sports, who until last year was also the chairman of Taunton St Andrew's Cricket Club, said: “Both George and Josh Thomas are very talented young cricketers who have already made their debuts for the Saints in senior cricket.

“Somerset County Sports are delighted to be able to offer sponsorship to both George and Thomas to help them to continue with their cricketing development and hope that this will be the start of a long association with them as they go forward in their playing careers.”
