HISTORY was made at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club on Saturday when they hosted their first ever mixed tee multi-gender competition in their 126 years of existence.

Gents and ladies had the choice to play from the white/green for gents or red/green for ladies.

At the end of the round the Division One winner was Neil Shattock with 41 points, one ahead of second placed JJ Poole with 40, while Keith Welsher was third with 36.

In the second division it was Johnathan Webster with 37 points who came out on top, David Hincks was second with 36 and Philip King third with 35.

In the third flight Harvey Morris with 37 points claimed the honours, one ahead of second placed Philip Painter with 36, while Gary Nightingill was third on 35.

On Tuesday, the Ladies’ Section played a Greenball Pairs Competition today - the first nine holes were a Greensomes format and the second nine a better ball, hence the name greenball.

The winners of the Greenball Pairs Stableford were Heather Crump and Jackie Pike with 38 points, one ahead of second-placed Sheila Beresford and Berni Hatcher with 37.

Two pairs returned with 34 points but after countback it was Mary-Jo Shepherd and Jenny Bevan who were third just ahead of fourth placed Jeanne Leader and Sue Walsh.

The only two of the round was scored by Anne George and Judy Powell.

T&P junior member Freddie Eglin, who is aged 10, attended his first training session at the weekend since being selected for the Somerset under-14s squad.

During the course of this year the T&P youngster has reduced his handicap from 28 to 18.

Despite the wet weather T&P hosted their second Somerset Ladies Golf Futures squad session on Sunday, under the tutelage of Simon Stevenson (T&P golf pro) and Helen Hayward (T&P member and Somerset Ladies).
