TAUNTON Town have the chance to go second in the table this week, as they play two home games in rapid succession.

With the top two in Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South both in FA Trophy action this weekend, the Peacocks can move above Salisbury and within a point of leaders Weymouth with a pair of wins.

Tomorrow sees the Peacocks face Wimborne Town (ko 3pm), and on Wednesday they welcome Walton Casuals to the Viridor Stadium (ko 7.45pm).

The suspended Andrew Neal is the only absence for Taunton boss Rob Dray, with Keith Emmerson expected to return after he missed last Saturday's match due to a knock.

Dray said: “Taunton have a reputation for being horrible to play against, and I’m keen for us to play up to that.

“We need to grind out results, with a tough Christmas period ahead of us."

But he is not taking Wimborne lightly, despite them being down in 17th spot, having won promotion alongside the Peacocks last season.

He said: "They've hit a bit of form and it will be a difficult game; every team in this league can hurt you if you're not on it.

"They have good players, like [top scorer] Toby Holmes, a good manager and they're always awkward to play against."

In terms of how the division is shaping up, Dray added: "The league is very, very tight, with the odd goal deciding games.

“If you don’t do things right in games, you get your pants pulled down.

“I think it will be tight all season, and the top sides can beat each other on any given day.

“I believe [an average of] two points a game is enough to make the play-offs; we’re going well and can still improve.”

Supporters going to tomorrow's match should be aware that the club will be paying its respects to the fallen ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Those wishing to participate in the tributes are advised to arrive at the Viridor Stadium before 2.45pm.

Looking further ahead, Taunton have confirmed a new date for their home match with Salisbury, which was due to be played tomorrow, but was postponed due to the Whites' FA Trophy fixture.

The Peacocks will now entertain Salisbury on Wednesday, November 28 (ko 7.45pm).
