Regional League 1

Galmington 42, Carol Ann 41

GALMINGTON started well but Carol Ann weren’t going to make it easy for them.

Daisy and Meg shot some lovely long range goals and the defence were working hard to stop Carol Ann feeding their circle but Galmington were two down at the end of the first quarter.

Interceptions made by Isla and Sammy were crucial to disrupting Carol Anns play but they still edged ahead by an extra goal at the end of the first half.

Isla and Emma proved useful on the quarter line to allow Galmington to reset when needed and the third quarter was goal for goal.

Daisy and Meg rotated well in the circle to score in the final quarter, fed ably by Kelly and Becs who showed great patience working the ball through court.

Strength, grit and determination won Galmington the game by a single point. Player of the match went to Daisy West with Isla getting opposition’s player.

Regional League 3S

Hovelands 39, Sydenham Gems 48

HOVELANDS were left to regret their slow start to this game, as Gems came out firing and a wary Hovelands were blown away going down 5-15.

This was not the start any team would hope for, but the spirit and fight of Hovelands showed immediately in the second quarter as they came back and lost the quarter by just one goal.

Wise words from coach Jazz had obviously hit home to the team and the “no hands on hips” instruction appeared to change to the attitude and belief of Hovelands.

The third quarter was drawn 12-12 - the belief shown in the starting seven continued and the combinations were starting to work.

The commitment and work rate of Hovelands cannot be faulted at all, though they did eventually finish on the wrong side of the scoreline.

POM went to captain fantastic Sophie Shire, who had a superb game at WA.
