SOMERSET duo Lewis Gregory and Jamie Overton have put themselves forward for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

Gregory and Overton are among 18 English players to be part of the auction, which takes place on Tuesday, December 18.

Both players enjoyed productive Vitality Blast campaigns as Somerset reached Finals Day for the first time since 2012.

Gregory captained the side effectively as well as taking 18 wickets and, perhaps most notably, smashing 328 runs at a strike rate of over 200.

Overton, meanwhile, impressed with his variations in pace and was Somerset's leading wicket taker in the competition, taking 24 scalps including 5-47 in the quarter-final victory over Nottinghamshire.

The 24-year-old is also a highly effective power-hitter down the order, as shown by his form for England Lions - Overton has made knocks of 33 from 28 balls and 28 not out from nine against Pakistan A in recent weeks.

Gregory has also impressed for the Lions and will be hoping for an opportunity to showcase his talents as he seeks to make steps towards further international recognition.

The pair were among numerous Somerset players to put themselves forward for the Pakistan Super League, but neither were picked up.

Corey Anderson, who has represented Somerset in their last two Blast campaigns, is among the players to have listed themselves in the top base price bracket.

Whatever happens in next Tuesday's auction, Somerset are guaranteed a link to the 2019 IPL - former paceman Steffan Jones is to be Rajasthan Royals' bowling coach.
