THE Somerset County Sports Sunday Cricket League held its AGM and Presentation Evening for 2018 at Taunton's Wyvern Club on Friday, November 30, writes David Derrick.

Wellington CC were league champions for a record third time, with Wembdon CC taking the runners-up spot in Division A, with Bagborough CC and Stogumber CC taking the Division B honours, and Shapwick & Polden CC and Huish & Langport CC doing so in Division C.

Some of the individual award winners were present too; Martin Baldock of Taunton St Andrew's CC won the Division A bowling award, Craig Swinburne and Toby Stirzaker (Bagborough CC) won a clutch of Division B awards, and James Hayes (Taunton CC) claimed the Division C batting award.

Staplegrove CC were joint recipients of the President's Trophy for Youth Engagement, along with Huish & Langport CC, based on having accrued the most points for playing Under-17s in their games.

With 2019 being the league's 10th season of operation, a special commemorative event will take place alongside the usual competitions, to be confirmed in the New Year.

The league's management team for 2019 was announced as:

President - Richard Brice; chairman - Paul Dimond; secretary - David Derrick; treasurer - Andrew Mortimore; senior committee members - Martin Baldock, Dan Bingham and Andrew Clancy; Division A representative - Des Campbell; Division B representative - Miles Quick; Division C representative - Tom Sweet; finance adviser - Kevin Parsons.
