FOUR Richard Huish College sportswomen have been selected to represent England Colleges following several weeks of trials.

Kathryn Lennard, Sophie Denman and Olivia Pearson have all been selected for the England Colleges’ Hockey team, following a successful final trial at Cannock at the end of November.

The girls came through the Southern Trials, alongside three other Huish students – Oscar Smith (men’s hockey), Milly Price and Maya Cox – before heading on to the National Trials.

They completed a day of trials before finding out whether they had been successful in getting into the 20-strong squad from across the country.

The girls will now go forward to participate in several training camps, ahead of fixtures to be played against England Under-16s, Scotland Under-18s and Wales Under-18s.

The fourth successful student from Richard Huish, Lauren Knight, has been selected for England Colleges’ Netball side.

Following the regional tournament in November, Knight – alongside three other Huish students – was selected to attend the National Trials, which were held in Nottingham.

Following a tough two days at the trials, Knight was successfully accepted into the 20-strong England Colleges’ squad.

She will now go forward to a training camp in Sunderland, before playing matches against Scotland Under-20s, Wales Under-18s, Northern Ireland Under-18s and Leeds Rhinos Under-18s.

RICHARD Huish College trampolinists are preparing to take the next step in their quest for National Gold having qualified for the South Zonal Regional Championships.

The team, made up of Ella O’Grady, Molly Pickles and Beth Gyatt, represented Huish at the recent County Zones held at Wellsprings at the end of November.

A fantastic performance by the sportswomen saw them finish in second and qualify for the Southern Zonal Championships which take place at the end of January in Southampton.
