A SEASONAL gaggle of Running Forever members headed for the Blackdown Hills this weekend for the Wellington Monument race.

This Taunton Athletic Club organised event sees runners running from Hemyock up to, round and down from the Wellington Monument, making a distance of just over 10K.

Adam Crichton was the first home in the red and white with his 40.20 time.

Next back was Sam Wharton, who took second in her category with her 44.36 finish.

Caroline Norris (45.54) and Tanya Lewis (47.02) hit the line next, followed by Gavin Clegg in 48.53.

After a bit of a cake break, it was Simon Rowland (52.49 and a massive course PB) and Richard Carman (53.09), just pipping Louise Lowry (53.55).

Mercedes Thorne finished in 55.04, Sally Tuer (55.53); Richard Mackrory (56.20) before Rob Murr crossed the line in 58.29.

Forever’s final finishers were Vicky Hannah (60.26) and Brian Brown (64.57).

Bev Collins took things a bit further with a marathon distance at the Plym Trail Merry Xmas race.

Despite hills aplenty and some atrocious weather, Collins had a 4.19 finish.

This weekend’s parkrun tourists went to Minehead, Winchester, Chelmsford, Exmouth, Gloucester City and Ashton Court.

Fifteen took part in the local Longrun Meadow event.

FOUR Hydro Harriers competed in a chilly evening’s five-mile Weston Prom run last Thursday.

In the fourth instalment of the 2018/19 series, Ian Salter was first Hydro across the line in 33m 17s (40th from 276), with Chris Jones following up in 43rd (33-19).

Mark Foss was 72nd in 35-31, with James Wright posting 41-52 (194th).

Hydro Harriers’ Andy White battled through appalling Longrun Meadow Parkrun conditions to record 21mins 28sec and 12th position - in an event won by his son, Sam.

Rowland Lyons returned a pedestrian 26-01at Valentine’s (Ilford).

Two Hydro Harriers competed in last Sunday’s Wellington Monument 10k race.

Chris Perring was first Harrier home in an impressive 43m 15s (38th from 258) with clubmate Ian Salter placed 56th in 44-59.

WELLINGTON Weavers Running Club members dug deep and ran the Wellington Monument Race last Sunday.

On a fresh wintery morning, The Weavers, along with other top runners from all over Britain, braved the steep roads and tracks from Hemyock to the Wellington Monument and back.
