WELLINGTON were outgunned by in-form Bitton on Saturday, despite taking an early lead.

George Rogers smashed in a spectacular opener inside a minute, but Joe McLennan scored twice in two minutes to give the hosts the lead.

Dean Griffiths made it 3-1 just after the half-time break, and Josh Egan finished it off with a fourth goal.

There was another blow to the Tangerines as captain Sam Bryant limped off, while Conor Bryant headed against the crossbar late on.

Now 14th in the table, Wellington host 12-placed Hallen this coming Saturday (ko 3pm).

Ashton & Backwell Utd 3, Bishops Lydeard 1

BISHOPS Lydeard suffered a 3-1 loss away to fifth-placed Ashton & Backwell United on Saturday.

The visitors took a 25th-minute lead with Mark Clunie’s free-kick.

They held that advantage until 65 minutes, as three goals in the next 15 minutes gave the home side the win – Calum Townsend, Harry Walker and George Jones netting.

Lydeard, 14th in the standings, host Oldland Abbotonians, who are 15th, this Saturday (ko 3pm).
