IN the Tom Thorne Seniors’ Bloodsome Trophy at Vivary Golf Club, Eddie Cullen and Mike Gough managed to successfully separate their good shots from the bad and the ugly at the right time, and came home victorious with a nett 69.

They were well clear of the second pair, Pete Jeffery and Brian Davey, who scored 73.8, and the third pair, Colin Woodford and Dai Lloyd, on 74.

Stephen Baker comfortably won the Advent Stableford with 42 points, four ahead of Pete Jeffery and five ahead of Brian Thomas on 37.

The St. Andrews Stableford was a more closely-fought competition, but Keith Wood prevailed with 38 points.

John Blissitt and Dave Channon both came in with 37 and Blissitt took second with a better back nine.

The Seniors’ Annual Presentation Night went well, with a fine meal and entertainment by “Double Dealing” for the second year running.

This year prizes and trophies were evenly distributed amongst the members but Pete Jeffery claimed the Grand Prix, which is given to the player with the best placings throughout the season.

He compiled 299 points, well ahead of Dave Thomas (206) and Phil Nicholls (165).

THE winner in the top division of the Stableford on Saturday at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club was David Chesney with 39 points, one ahead of second placed Pete Scarratt who returned with 38, while Mike Bird was third with 37.

Top place in Division Two was very keenly contested with three players scoring 37. However, after countback, it was Fred Yardley who took the honours, Oliver Dawson was second and Jonathan Webster third.

On Tuesday, the Ladies’ Section played a Greensomes Stableford over 12 holes, at the end of which it was Jackie Lynn and Jan Hill, with 25, who were the winners.

Two pairs returned with 23 but, after countback, it was Jenny Scobie and Carol Keenan who were second and

Marion Beranek and Sarah Allan third.

Twos were recorded during the round by Jenny Scobie and Carol Keenan, and Jenny Bevan and Linda Knowles.

The 12-Hole Stableford on New Year’s Day was won by Marion Beranek with 21, one ahead of Anne George.

JOHN Byrne won Division 1 of the Saturday Stableford Competition at Oake Manor, scoring 37 points.

The next three players all had 35 points but on countback Colin Dyke was second, Nigel Jackson third and Steve Barham was fourth.

Allan Samuel won Division 2 after scoring an excellent 41 points, the best score of the day.

Club captain Roy Sully was second with 37 points, Cliff Trott was third with 36 points and Chris Hughes fourth also with 36 points.

Greg Scribbins scored 42 points to win the Sunday Stableford Competition, the last competition of 2018.

Nick Clayton came second with 40 points, Chris Fultrick was third with 39 points and Simon Mankin was fourth with 36 points.

Richard Shepherd won the Sunday Stableford Competition with an excellent score of 41 points, Michael Bright came second with 38, Mark Tydings third (35) and Nick Clayton fourth (34).

In-form Michael Bright won Division 1 of the Saturday Christmas Stableford Competition scoring 37, Gary Tillett was second with 35, Daniel Green third with 33 and Ian Williams fourth with 32.

Charles Hardman won Division 2 with the best score of the day, 38, Bernard Reed was second with 37, Gary Jewell third with 35 and Mike Osguthorp fourth with 34.

Jason Brock, off a handicap of -1, won the Friday Stableford Competition with 37, Lee Palk (36) was second, Neil Blackmore third with 32 and Daniel Green fourth with 31.
