TAUNTON Titans coach Tony Yapp has called on his side to keep their momentum going as they seek a sixth straight win this weekend.

The Titans’ good run has seen them move to within two points of second, with struggling Birmingham & Solihull the visitors to Hyde Park on Saturday (3pm).

Yapp said: “We are right back in the mix now and it keeps things exciting.

“I don’t see it as pressure, just as a great opportunity.

“We cannot take our eye off the ball this weekend as sometimes playing the teams at the bottom can be tougher once you get to this time of year, as they are scrapping for their lives.”

A victory on Saturday would set up a mouthwatering clash at fellow promotion chasers Canterbury next weekend, but the Titans coach is understandably reluctant to look too far ahead.

"We cannot fall into the trap of looking beyond our next match," he said.

"We put a lot of work into the first game back [at Clifton] as that had banana skin written all over it, but we came through that and got another five points.

"Now we must put that same focus and energy into the Birmingham game. We cannot lose focus as a defeat this weekend would pile a lot more pressure on to that Canterbury game."

Yapp went on to hail the competition for places in his confident squad.

“We had 45 at training on Tuesday and our Warriors are playing really well,” he said.

“It is proving to be difficult to pick a team and there are some awkward conversations to be had with players who are disappointed to miss out, but that is a positive as it shows how keen everyone is to play.”

Ratu Vakalutukali, Gary Kingdom and Aron Struminski, who missed Saturday’s win at Clifton, are expected to return.
