WEST Indian international paceman Jerome Taylor is to return to Somerset for the entire 2019 Vitality Blast.

Taylor, 34, signed part way through last season's campaign and helped the club return to Finals Day for the first time in six years by taking 22 wickets at an average of 16.64.

FLASHBACK: When Somerset's new signing tore England apart in Jamaica...

The highlight of his stint came against Hampshire in Taunton, when he claimed 5-15 to become just the third Somerset player to take a five-wicket haul in T20 cricket.

Taylor has played 30 IT20s and 101 other T20 matches across the globe.

The quick bowler said: “I really enjoyed my time at Somerset last year and I’m looking forward to going back.

"There was a great atmosphere in the dressing room and that showed out on the pitch.

“Getting to Finals Day with that group was a special experience and I hope that I can help Somerset get back there in 2019.”

Somerset Director of Cricket Andy Hurry said: “Jerome made a real impact during the 2018 Vitality Blast campaign and we are really excited to be continuing our relationship with him.

“He brought a wealth of experience and skill that, alongside his availability for the full duration of the 2019 competition, will again add significant value to our attack.”

Somerset’s Vitality Blast captain, Lewis Gregory said: “Jerome’s experience and expertise were exactly what we needed last year.

"We have an outstanding bowling unit here and he complemented that perfectly.

“We came so close to achieving what we had worked so hard for last year and he was a big part of that.

"We are all really looking forward to playing alongside him again in 2019."
