TAUNTON Town have tied another one of their squad to a contract, this time defender Josh Nelmes agreeing to remain at the Viridor Stadium through to the end of the current season.

Nelmes joined the Peacocks last February, from Mangotsfield United, and has proven himself a versatile operator whenever called upon.

While not necessarily first choice, the defender has played his part in the side's success over the last couple of seasons, with some notable goals.

He netted the only goal as Taunton beat Evesham United 1-0 to clinch the league title last season, and in November he scored in stoppage time to help the Peacocks turn a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 win over Salisbury.

Taunton head of football Rob Dray told the club website: "Josh has come to the club and shown us what being an out and out defender is all about.

"He’s very capable which is why several clubs have shown an interest in him.

"I wanted him here and I’m delighted he has signed until the end of the season."

Nelmes joins Ben Adelsbury, Ryan Brett, Ollie Chamberlain, Lloyd Irish, Pierce Mitchell, Andrew Neal, Ed Palmer, Dan Sullivan and Shane White in signing contracts in the last couple of weeks.
