TAUNTON Town FC has announced that its management trio of Rob Dray, Matt Villis and Steve Perkins have all signed new contracts through to 2020.

Dray and Villis had been on the coaching staff under Leigh Robinson, but after Robinson and Michael Meaker departed for Truro City in September 2018, they moved up into the roles of head of football and first team coach, respectively.

That has allowed the Peacocks to maintain their good early momentum in their first season at Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South level, winning 21 out of 33 games and only losing eight (in all competitions) since Robinson's exit.

It means that Taunton sit top of the table, holding a five-point cushion over their title rivals, with 11 league games left this season.

Last November saw Perkins come on board as technical coach, bringing with him FA and club coaching experience, and Taunton's board of directors have moved to keep all three at the club until the end of next season at least.

Dray told the club website: "It’s a massive privilege to agree a contract with this fantastic club and continue the work that we have started with the players, the chairman, board of directors, sponsors and our ever-growing fanbase.

"We have a fantastic opportunity to build a legacy here, which is plain for all to see after all that has been achieved in the last couple of seasons.

"The hard work actually starts now – in this game if you stop and pat yourself on the head you start going backwards – and with this management team and this group of players, we will do our utmost to bring continued success."
