TAUNTON Town have released a club statement following Farnborough's complaint to the FA and Southern League in the wake of "alleged incidents" during Saturday's match between the two sides.

The statement requests all supporters adhere to the ground regulations at the club's Viridor Stadium home, while also saying that a "full investigation is underway".

Taunton won the game 2-1, but there were some scuffles on the touchline during the match and following the full-time whistle.

The Farnborough statement, from chairman Simon Gardner, said: "The club can confirm that, following the alleged incidents at Saturday's match against Taunton Town FC of abuse towards a Farnborough player, an official complaint has been raised with both the Football Association and the Southern League.

"The club would like to stress that it will not tolerate racist, sexist or homophobic abuse in any way.

"A full investigation is underway and therefore the club cannot comment any further on the matter."

Now Taunton have released their own club statement, which says: "We understand that Farnborough FC have made formal representations to the FA & SL regarding some opinions they hold and we are waiting for the FA & SL’s formal response to those representations together with the match referees report from Saturday’s match.

"All supporters entering the Viridor Stadium are reminded to adhere to the club’s Ground Regulations at all times.

"A full investigation is underway and therefore the club cannot comment any further on the matter."
