IT was a story of five-goal thrillers for the men’s 2nds, as they lost on Saturday but won on Sunday.

The results leave them two points off division pace-setters Sidmouth & Ottery going into this weekend’s match at fifth-placed Okehampton (12.15pm).

VALE B also had two matches over the weekend, and again they followed up a defeat on the Saturday with a good win on the Sunday.

A 5-1 hammering at basement side City of Bath A had tipped Vale onto the bottom rung of the ladder, but they bounced back to see off ninth-placed Chippenham A 4-1.

Colin Jewhurst and Matt Osmant scored two goals apiece in the Sunday victory.

That sees them sit 10th (third from bottom) as they host title hopefuls Bridgwater this Saturday (1.30pm).

South East 1
Taunton Vale C 6, Yeovil & Sherborne A 4

THERE were goals aplenty as the 4th XI consolidated their mid-table position with a 6-4 victory at home to second-bottom Yeovil & Sherborne A.

Fifth in the table, Vale travel to bottom team Chard A this Saturday (2pm).

BACK-TO-BACK wins leave Vale D fifth in South East 2, six points off North Devon A in top spot.

They followed up Saturday’s victory at the team immediately above them, ECV Hornets B, on Saturday (James Waterman and Oskar Hind (2) scoring) with a comfortable home triumph over strugglers Yeovil & Sherborne B on Sunday.

James Waterman, Edd Waterman, Robbie Shaw and Tom White netted in the Yeovil win.

This Saturday they go to sixth-placed Teign A (noon).

THE men’s 6ths are four points clear of title rivals Minehead B, with a game in hand, after beating East Devon D on Saturday, thanks to Madawa Wipulaguna and Brian Louis' goals.
