Harrow Borough 1, Taunton Town 0

TAUNTON Town's lead at the top has been cut to a point after the Peacocks slipped to defeat at Harrow Borough.

A first half penalty from Ryan Moss was enough to separate the two sides as the play-off chasing hosts avenged a 7-0 defeat with eight men in the reverse fixture.

The teams traded chances in the early stages, Anthony O'Connor - one of those sent off at the Viridor Stadium - heading wide before Dan Sullivan fired over for the visitors.

It took a spot-kick to break the deadlock on 27 minutes, Moss firing home after Ed Palmer fouled O'Connor inside the area.

Matt Wright and Rocky Neal fired narrowly over as the Peacocks looked for a response which was not forthcoming before the interval, Neal seeing an effort blocked with their final chance of the half.

The hosts came closest to finding the game's second goal as Irish was called into action to deny Moss, with Taunton struggling to creat clear-cut chances.

Substitute Craig Veal saw a 77th-minute shot blocked and there was no late surge on a frustrating afternoon for Town.

Weymouth won 2-0 at Frome Town to move to within a point of Taunton having played a game fewer, while Salisbury also have a game in hand and sit three points off the Peacocks after a 4-1 win at Wimborne Town.

Met Police lost ground after a 2-1 defeat at Tiverton Town which leaves them eight points adrift, though they do have two games in hand on Taunton.

The Peacocks will look to bounce back at home to Hartley Wintney next Saturday.
