TAUNTON Town hope to include two Bristol Rovers loanees in their squad for the upcoming game with Hartley Wintney.

The Peacocks have seen their lead at the top of the Premier Division South table eroded to a point after defeat at Harrow Borough last weekend, but head of football Rob Dray could well have a couple of extra options at his disposal for the match at the Viridor Stadium this Saturday (ko 3pm).

Midfielder Connor Jones played an hour for Rovers’ first team against Exeter City in the Checkatrade Trophy on November 13, 2018, but the development squad player went out on loan to Mangotsfield United (who play one division below Taunton) from November until February.

Jones’ fellow midfielder Lucas Tomlinson is in the Under-18 squad at the League One club.

With 10 games remaining this season - including a Somerset Premier Cup quarter-final at home to Welton Rovers next Wednesday (March 13, ko 7.45pm) - extra reinforcements in the midfield and forward areas could prove valuable during the run-in.

Dray told the County Gazette: “They will give us extra numbers in the squad, and offer something different.”

Regarding the 1-0 loss at Harrow, Dray commented: “It was quite a tight game; it’s a difficult place to go and they’re a good team.

“We gave away an avoidable penalty and missed some chances.

“They’re a big, physical team, and they had something left to prove after we beat them 7-0 [in December]."
