We had some Somerset success yesterday courtesy of Harry Cobden riding the Paul Nicholls-trained Topofthegame to victory in the 2.10 (tipped in yesterday's column), and I am plumping for more local joy in the equivalent race today.

Champers On Ice (12/1), trained by David Pipe at Nicholashayne on the Devon/Somerset border near Wellington, will relish the heavier ground and looks well set for a good race.

He was as high as 20/1 last night but has been down as far as 11/1 this morning as the punters gather to get on board.

Today's big one is the Stayers' Hurdle at 3.30 and there are a couple in the field that would make popular winners.

Paisley Park (15/8) goes off as favourite. The horse is trained in Wiltshire and owned by Andrew Gemmell, who has been blind since birth but fell in love with horse racing by listening on the radio as a youngster.

The horse has also had a rough ride, coming through a life threatening operation two years ago, so it would cap a remarkable story were Paisley Park to come home in first.

Nostalgic punters may also like the look of Faugheen (4/1), but an 11-year-old has not won this race since 1986 and the veteran is not the force he was.

We are going away from the favourites and looking at SupaSundae (10/1), a remarkably consistent performer - back each way and you should not be disappointed.

A loyalty pick to finish in the 4.10 - Modus (20/1) has rarely let me down for a place at the festival before so I must back him to do the same this afternoon.

Cheltenham day three tips:

1.30 - Real Steel (13/2)

2.10 - Champers On Ice (12/1)

2.50 - Road To Respect (4/1)

3.30 - Supasundae (10/1)

4.10 - Modus (20/1 e/w)

4.50 - Posh Trish (11/2)

5.30 - Captain Chaos (20/1)
