Regional League 3 South
Vivary 43, Hovelands 34

VIVARY concluded their Regional League 3 South season with victory over Galmington Hovelands.

In a much-anticipated local derby, Vivary started more slowly than usual and allowed Hovelands to match their score, with the first quarter ending 6-6.

Some positional changes before the second quarter saw the dynamics of the game change, with Vivary’s play becoming more controlled, affording them a three-goal lead at half-time (17-14).

Hovelands fought back in the third quarter and errors from both teams saw a much more evenly matched period of play in which Hovelands managed to pull the score back to within two goals.

By the final quarter Vivary had found their flow and with tight defence and interceptions, flowing centre court play and accurate shooting.

Vivary pulled away to finish their season with a win and secure a very well deserved third place in the league.

TONE started off calmly but had to fight hard to earn a slight lead of 11-10 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Tone went out with a positive approach and converted interceptions to lead 24-22.

Real improvement in their play as a team in the third quarter saw some much-needed interceptions, controlled passing down the court and accurate feeds to the shooters for Tone to pull away (39-30).

Tone marked tightly in defence in the final quarter, fought hard for the ball and kept their heads to pull away further and seal the win.
