TAUNTON Town head of football Rob Dray believes his squad are “getting their buzz back” after consecutive wins in league and cup over the past week.

The Peacocks ended their four-match winless run with a 1-0 victory over Poole Town last Saturday and followed that up by making it through to the Somerset Premier Cup final with a 2-1 win at Frome on Tuesday night.

Matt Wright’s winner in the latter brought the skipper’s three-month goal drought to an end going into this Saturday’s trip to Chesham United.

“The atmosphere is so different when you win games and we are getting that buzz back,” Dray said.

“It was important for Wrighty [Matt Wright] to get his goal on Tuesday.

“He needed that - it was a trademark header and, on the whole, he looked back to his usual self.

“He offers us plenty more than his goals but from a striker’s pride point of view it is important he is back scoring.

“Hopefully he can go on a run between now and the end of the season.”

Dray has warned his players that playing Chesham this weekend will be “like facing a top five side.”

The Buckinghamshire outfit have lost just once since December 22 and the Peacocks are expecting a tougher assignment than in September’s reverse fixture, which Town won 4-0.

Dray said: “It will be completely different.

“They have had a change of management and personnel since then, they are in a great catchment area for players and they are in good form.

“It will be a big test for us, make no mistake, and we are there to be shot at now - but we have to be prepared for that.”

Town hope to welcome back Ben Adelsbury, whose suspension is over but who remains troubled by a rib injury, while new signing Shane Krac is in contention for a debut.
