WELLINGTON remain in title contention going into their final match of the Western Counties (West) season at Chard on Saturday.

The Red & Blacks are third and need a win in their match and slip-ups for Sidmouth and Crediton if they are to claim the crown.

The previous two weeks was a question of digging deep to get themselves back into the game, but this week was a step up on the form ladder for Wellington.

When Wellington and Chard met in the very first game of the season, the R&Bs run out worthy winners in what was a highly entertaining encounter.

Chard have it all to play for themselves, lying third from bottom and desperate to get the win to ensure their league position for next season.

In National 2 South, Taunton Titans travel to Guernsey.

There is little to play for on either side, with the hosts all but down and Taunton to finish fifth no matter what happens in their final two matches.

The Taunton side is as follows: 1. Connor Baker; 2. Chris Francis; 3. Isaac Dalton; 4. Cory Teague; Barrie-John Chapman; 6. Dan Ogden; 7. Watisoni Vakalutukali; 8. Ben Oliphant-Thompson; 9. Lewis Webb; 10. Sam Baker; 11. James Keay; 12. Tom Popham; 13. Freddie Fraser; 14. Matt Jess; 15. Gary Kingdom. Replacements: Alex Rodd, Alfie Petch, Sam Prior, Brett Harvey, Connor Banks

Somerset Premier champions Wiveliscombe concluded their title-winning season last weekend, beating Avon, while Someset 2 South winners Taunton 3rds host Morganians this Saturday.
